Lydia Tomkiw

Don Hedeker

"Their sound is atmospheric music played underneath monologued poetry. The total effectis alluring without being coy, hypnotic without being mundane, enlightening without being pretentious.

Musically, the band is Don Hedecker. His arrangements of guitar, drum machine and synthesizer are prerecorded and played over the P.A. This gives Don room to create patterns on guitar over his background.

Lydia Tomkiw, published poet, supplies the lyric prowess of the band. Unlike Laurie Anderson, Lydia speaks in detached, angular phrases, splintering lines of English into fragmented ideas and feelings."

The multimedia performance is put together using Lydia's handmade slides projected over the duo. The overall effect of music, lyrics and visuals is one that that must be experienced.
